Is that piece of media actually bad or did it just not go the way you wanted it to go?

Is that piece of media actually bad or did it just not live up to the expectations you set for it?

Is that piece of media actually bad or do you just personally dislike it?

somehow instead of saying “as a treat”, I’ve started using the phrase “for morale”, as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.

and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.

I’m not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me

skarchomp:

if you got queerbaited by the shitty teen superhero manga that’s fully on you. you would get trapped under a box if the cheese looked yuri enough.

Oh and that fucking crab day post sends shivers down my spine btw. I say this as someone who owns multiple pieces of tumblr merch — support them if you want, or don’t, I don’t care, but we are NOT turning a tech corporation into our poor little wet meow meow who deserves all our money uwu. We are NOT pressuring normal ass people into donating to resolve a company’s millions in debt as if it’s some important charitable cause.

“Aw man! This pie doesn’t taste at all like what grandma use to make! I’m must be a terrible baker:(“

Maybe! Or maybe one of many things might be different from the recipe you’ve been trying to follow

Baking is largely both a science, and bullshit. Anything from the altitude you’re at, or the mosture in the air, or the way you’re measuring ingredients (ie weight vs volume) can effect how your final result of what you’re making will come out. A few examples just in my grandmother’s Apple Pie recipe are

  • Her recipe calls for Crisco in the crust, but Crisco changed their formula in 2007, effecting the taste and texture of the crusts made, so adjustments have to be made to account for that
  • The Apple tree in her backyard is gone, and no apples sold commonly in stores are similar to whatever random variety she had, and there are over 7,500 known varieties of apples
  • Not all flour that you buy from the store is the same, and I’m not just even talking about like. Cake flour vs wheat flour. Even in the US the kind of regular baking flour differs depending on where you live, and where it’s sourced from

So will I ever make that Apple pie I remember fondly from my childhood? Probably not! Just gotta figure out my own thing that works.

I dunno why I made this post at 6am. Just shit to keep in mind next time you’re struggling with an older recipe I guess!

Needed to see this. Thank you :)

this is very useful information that can help ground people when they do everything right and it still doesn’t come out the way they wanted it.

Another useful thing to remember is that you are different. You are no longer the same person you were when grandma baked a pie, you got taller, and more specifically, your taste buds have changed with you. So foods and drinks will taste different to 6-year-old you compared to 26-year-old you, even if everything else is the same. Things you liked as a kid might be too sweet, or fatty, or sour for you now. Things adult you likes may be too bitter, or smoky, or spicy for kid you. And that’s ok. Things being different does not mean that they are bad.

saw a post abt HBO removing shows that suggests ppl just “burn dvds” but everyone doesnt know how to do that so here is one way to do that

- get blank dvds (Both +R or -R work, I think +R is slightly cheaper, the difference is rewritability), these are not very expensive for the amount you can get in bulk (if you are in the US 100 of them is about 30$ at walmart)

- an external DVD drive that plugs in via usb is also around 20-40$ (it tends to be closer to 20)

image
image

- download DVDFlick (free)

- if you don’t already have the mp4/mpeg of whatever media you want to burn, you can download movies/shows off of sites like gomovies.sx and soap2day

gomovies.sx will have a download button that looks like this

image

below the video you can choose one of these

image

if you click streamlare for example and then the download button it will take you here where the mp4 is

(if you’re on an iphone/ipad, clicking download will save it to your files app)

image

- if you cant find the download button on soap2day you can also install a video downloader extension which will find the movie for you

image

- at this point you can drag and drop it into a google drive or keep it on your computer but if you still want it on dvd ->

- open dvd flick, drag and drop the video

image

- click “project settings”

image

- give it whatever title you want, you can change encoder to “normal” (default is below normal if you are doing other things on the computer). you dont need to change target size or thread count (unless you want to)

image

- insert a blank dvd into your drive, make sure you click “burn project to disc”

image

- click accept then click “create dvd” next to menu and project settings. it will create a destination folder and this dialogue box will pop up when you click “create” on more dvds, just click “yes” and then “okay” on the box that appears after it

it’ll take a couple hours, once its done take a sharpie & write whats on it and stick it in a case . or dont . im not ur mom
